Changing Lives

    Hand in Hand

Hand in Hand launched in 2010 to address the Social Inequalities for local young people with Additional Support Needs. The aim of the project is to promote social inclusion, this is achieved by the support of our peer buddies from the community who provide encouragement and engage with our young people

At present, the project currently support in excess of 40 young people aged P7 – 24 years in a variety of activities.  Their programme includes Leisure Club, After School Club, Group Night, One-To-One Support and Small Evening Workshops.

They also launched Project Search in February 2018.

Youth Development Work

The work we do is based on the individual needs of the young person, with the aim of building on skills to promote learning outcomes, social skills and gain personal achievement.

Some of the work we do can help the young person prepare for exams in school gain a youth achievement award or attend a work placement in the community.

In the last year 5 young people have been working on youth achievement awards with 2 of them achieving silver and a gold award.

3 of the young people have moved onto the Project Search internship at Culzean Castle and 2 young people currently have a work placement at Z1 Youth Bar.  The placements include working in our Thrift Shop, assisting in the delivery of sports sessions with Girvan Community Sport Hub and helping to plan and organise events in Z1 Youth Bar.
